I like the direction v5 is headed I think, but it is so incomplete it is hard to tell, which is why i call it 4.5. Not much has changed since the "supersecretv5preview". I was REALLY hoping they would finish the message center, manage friends list etc.
This seems to be more of a change for non-users than for users. Some things have shifted around a bit, but for the most part, function-wise, they are the same. I dont really see any new features that are interesting. They make a big deal of "moods" which I could care less about. So I guess here is a list of my thought on the new v5:
- I would have liked to see the "edit profile" and "settings" merged. They are basically the same thing but I find myself always having to go to the other one to find what I want.
- the background color in all the text blocks etc should be different front that of the page. having the same background color just muddies everything.
- The categories (newest, popular, prints) seem to be kinda just thrown in there. looks very bad.
- I REALLY REALLY REALLY would have liked to have more of the functional pages updated before release. Who releases a new layout thats only half done? wtf.
- the mood and song and comment count on journals seems to be moved for no apparent reason. looks bad.
ok overall i think the changes have been only cosmetic to a small degree and are pretty lacking. there definitely is some nice upgrades to things like the forums, but overall i was pretty disappointed, especially after seeing the preview months ago and now it being almost exactly the same (userpage is actually worse). I hope they step it up in v5.5 but who knows how long that will take.
